Healthy Food
"Good food brings children into a positive relationship with their health, community and environment."
Many children spend all day at a childcare centre, so it is important that they are given nutritious and healthy food.
Babies, toddlers and young children can only eat what they are given therefore responsibility lies with all carers, including those at their childcare centre. This means that childcare centres have an important role in creating a culture of healthy eating and helping children to develop healthy food behaviour related to food choices.
The Childsteps menu is filled with fruit, vegetables, dairy, meat, fish and high fibre snacks, rotating on a four-week basis and all prepared in-house. We provide morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea and our mealtimes are relaxed social occasions with an emphasis on healthy eating and good manners.
