Education
Te Whāriki is Māori for woven mat and is New Zealand’s early childhood education curriculum that develops the idea children interact completely with their environment and everywhere is a learning environment. Our childcare centre fosters a holistic setting where small class sizes and caring staff contribute to quality education.
We also take inspiration from the Reggio Emilia approach to education, learning and advocacy for children. At the heart of the Reggio approach is the belief that children are full of curiosity and creativity and that cultivating this fosters a lifelong passion for learning. At our childcare centre we emphasise the following broad principles:
Empowerment - children will be empowered to learn and grow.
Holistic education - children learn and grow in a holistic way. Their intellectual, social, cultural, physical, emotional and spiritual learning is interwoven across all their experiences.
Family and community - a child's family and community are recognised as part of the learning experience.
Relationships - children learn through positive relationships with people, places and things.
